2 killed as gunmen open fire on vehicles

KOHAT: Two persons were killed and three others sustained injuries when unidentified attackers opened fire on two moving vehicles in different areas on Thursday.

Police officials said that a coach was on its way to Peshawar from Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram tribal district, when unidentified assailants ambushed the vehicle in Parchao Banda on Kohat-Hangu Road. They said that another vehicle going to Kaghzai area from Kohat was also targeted.

As a result, two persons, including driver of the coach named Wajid Hussain and a passenger in the pickup identified as Noor Dil were killed.Three other persons named Zohaib and Amjad, residents of Nowshera, and Samiullah of Kaghzai sustained injuries in the two firing incidents. The slain persons and the injured were shifted to the hospital. The gunmen escaped the area after the incident while the police have lodged cases and started an investigation.
