PESHAWAR: Eidul Azha was celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with religious zeal and fervour. The governor and chief minister celebrated the festival in their hometown of Dera Ismail Khan.

Large Eid gatherings were held in all the big mosques and eidgahs in the province. The biggest congregational prayer was offered at the Mughal-era Eidgah on Charsadda Road.Relief and welfare bodies remained in forefront to do the ‘sacrifice’ and distribute meat among deserving people. A number of organisations also collected hides of the sacrificial animals for use in relief activities.

It has always been a big challenge for municipal bodies to maintain cleanliness during Eid. In the majority of the cities, the local administration was swift enough to remove the wastes of sacrificial animals on time and carry out fumigation to overcome foul smell. Still, a lot was required to have been done to maintain cleanliness.

Al-Khidmat Foundation, was ahead of all the relief bodies to slaughter sacrificial animals and distribute the meat among the deserving people and communities. Special functions were arranged in the provincial metropolis for the Thalassemic patients and the transgender community.

Provincial President of the Foundation Khalid Waqas was there to distribute meat among the deserving communities. At the function for the transgender community, Khalid Waqas said that the foundation believed in serving humanity without any discrimination.

The function was also attended by advisor to chief minister for information Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Jamaat-e-Islami leader, Dr Mohammad Iqbal Khalil, and central office-bearer of the foundation Khalid Mahmud.
