Imran’s audio not leaked from SC: CJP
During the second hearing of the case, audio conversation of Imran with the judges was also leaked
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa on Friday said that audio conversation between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and judges during the NAB amendment’s case was not leaked from Supreme Court.
The CJP said that he had conducted an inquiry into the matter and the IT staff had told him that some of the voices in the audio could not be from the court.
Justice Athar Minallah, however, said as to what was wrong if the audio was leaked, adding that the conversation was made in an open court.
It is pertinent to mention here that a photo of former prime minister Imran Khan from Courtroom No 1 on the first hearing of NAB amendment’s case was leaked when the PTI founder appeared before the court through video link from Adiala Jail, which widely went viral on social media.
During the second hearing of the case, audio conversation of Imran with the judges was also leaked that also ran widely on social media.
Meanwhile, Justice Isa administered the oath to new cabinet of Press Association of Supreme Court (PAS) elected recently. The oath-taking ceremony was held here in the Judges Block of the Supreme Court.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan also attended the ceremony.
The new PAS cabinet includes Mian Aqeel Afzal, President, Ghulam Nabi Yousafzai, Vice President, Imran Waseem, General Secretary, Raja Basharat, Finance Secretary, as well as Ikramullah Joya, Asia Kausar and Mian Abid Nisar, members.
Later, the CJP along with other judges held an informal conversation with PAS members in a cordial atmosphere.
The chief justice said that in the past he also used to write, adding that his mother Saeeda Qazi Isa also wrote articles.
He showed copies of an English daily newspaper which had published his articles. At that time it was written after much research, the CJP said but added that it’s easy these days, just pick up the phone and say what you have to say.
The chief justice said that court reporting is very difficult work, adding that sometimes court reporters describes background in their stories which they (judges) have forgotten.
Justice Isa recalled that he first compiled media laws and published them in a book form.
The CJP said that Lahore High Court wrote 627 paragraphs in the decision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case while the Supreme Court wrote 963 paragraphs, adding that in criminal cases, there may not be such a long decision.
He said that as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case had been decided, so an opinion can be given on it now.
During the conversation, the chief justice shared some sentences from a book titled “First You Write a Sentence”.
“Good writing requires a cool eye and an open heart,” he read out a sentence from the book besides quoting another sentence “Reading is also important to write well.”
