The PML-N and the opposition, particularly the PTI and the PPP, have been caught in a useless tug-of-war over the Panama leaks. One can easily note that the game of levelling accusations and counter-accusations has put the real issue of drafting ToRs and forming a commission on the backburner. The PPP has succeeded in diverting people’s attention away from the mega corruption perpetuated during the party’s last two regimes.
Everyone, including Imran Khan, has forgotten about the Surrey Palace and Benazir Bhutto/Zardari’s properties abroad and their numerous offshore companies and accounts, etc. And last but not the least, two former prime ministers, who had great obsession for ‘diamond necklaces’ have not been mentioned even once. Nor has it been mentioned how many PPP ‘stalwarts’ have been able to own apartments in London, where they could never dream to own a single room during the time when they were not ministers. Now, they also have offshore companies. This is a Pandora’s Box that has been opened.
