LAHORE: The federal government has approved a three-day holiday on the occasion of Eidul Azha from June 17 to 19, sources told Geo News Tuesday.
The sources say that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the summary forwarded by the Cabinet Division. The development comes as Pakistan will celebrate Eidul Azha on June 17 after the Zil Haj moon was sighted on June 7 last week. The festival falls on the 10th day of Zil Haj and marks the Haj pilgrimage.
With Eidul Azha just around the corner, cattle markets have been set up in different areas for people to purchase cows, goats, sheep and camels for sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has announced a 25% reduction in fares as a special package for commuters on the occasion of Eidul Azha. The discount will be available on all types of trains and classes with the exception of Eid special trains.
In pursuance of the Cabinet Division notification, the Punjab government has also announced public holidays from June 17 to June 19 on the occasion of Eidul Azha. In this regard, Services and General Administration Department has issued a notification here on Monday.
