The Syed Hashmi reference library in Malir, Karachi holds immense importance for Balochi language and literature. Unfortunately it is reportedly under threat of demolition due to an expressway project. It has reportedly helped publish books, dictionaries and research material on the Balochi language and literature and has held courses on the Balochi language in different towns and cities.
The number of such institutions should be increased instead of being threatened by demolition. If the government cannot replace such great institutions it should at least not facilitate their destruction.
