PSX appoints Dr Shamshad Akhtar as BoD chair

KARACHI: Dr Shamshad Akhtar has been appointed as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited.
The PSX in a notification on Tuesday announced: “Please be informed that Dr Shamshad Akhtar, an independent director, has been appointed as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited for the board’s term of three years that commenced on April 19, 2024.”
Dr Shamshad Akhtar has been appointed as chairperson of the PSX for the second tenure. She recently served as acting finance minister, and served as finance minister in 2018 as well.
In 2006, she took over as governor of the State Bank of Pakistan for three-years. She was the first woman to head the country’s central bank.
