Sharp hike in prices of vegetables witnessed ahead of Eid

LAHORE : Prices of essential items including onion, garlic, ginger and tomatoes have witnessed a sharp increase ahead of Eidul Azha as intake of these items increases manifolds being a basic ingredient in meat dish.

Besides, the rates of all essential vegetables, fruits and chicken meat have also increased. The increasing trend has witnessed during the last two weeks after a brief reduction earlier. However, the government has been claiming for controlling of prices of essential items and information minister are doing presses on it. Across the province no item is being sold at official rates while the district administrations just issuing the rate lists and the chief minister and ministers are issuing the statements of controlling of the prices. This week price of chicken was further gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs291-302 per kg, sold at Rs340-370 per kg, and chicken meat by Rs22 per kg, fixed Rs438 kg, and sold Rs460-1000 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin unchanged at Rs70-75 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs60-65 per kg, and C-grade at Rs50-55 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs80-100 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade further gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs120–125 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs105-110 per kg, and C-grade fixed at Rs90-95 per kg, mixed sold at Rs120-130 per kg. The price of tomato A-grade further gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs50-55 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs44-48 per kg, and C-grade at Rs37-40 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-80 per kg.

The price of garlic local was further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs265-275 per kg, sold at Rs320-350 per kg, and Garlic China price was not fixed sold at Rs800-1000 per kg, Garlic Harnai gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs335-350 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg. The price of Ginger Thai further increased by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs620-640 per kg, and Ginger Chinese by Rs80 per kg, fixed at Rs655-675 per kg, both sold at Rs800-1000 per kg.

Cucumber Farm further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs52-55 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, and cucumber local fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 kg. Brinjal price was further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg. Biter gourd further increased by Rs17 per kg, fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg.The price Spinach farm reduced by Rs8 per kg, fixed at Rs30-33 at Rs60-80 per kg.

Zucchini local was further gained by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs135-140 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg, Zucchini farm reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs52-55 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg, and Zucchini long gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs52-55 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg.

The lemon local reduced by Rs160 per kg, fixed at Rs385-400 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg. Pumpkin was further gained by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs85-90 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg.

Green chili price A-grade further gained by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs115-120 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg, B-grade by Rs22 per kg, fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs120-160 per kg. Capsicum price was further gained by Rs105 per kg, fixed at Rs195-205 per kg, sold at Rs280-300 per kg.

Price of cauliflower was further gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs115-120 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg, cabbage fixed at Rs30-33 per kg, sold Rs80-100 per kg. Carrot Chinese gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs52-55 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg.

Arum was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs300-350 per kg. Ladyfinger reduced by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs120-125 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg.

Turnip was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs72-75 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg.

Fenugreek (Methi) gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs125-130 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg. Pea price was further gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs230-240 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg. Beetroot was sold at Rs300-320 per kg. Coriander was sold at Rs30 per bundle. Sweet Pumpkin was increased by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs28-30 per kg, sold at Rs80 per kg. Mangoes unripe was reduced by Rs23 per kg, fixed at Rs38-40 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg.
