Reforms underway to improve nursing sector: health minister
LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique Saturday said reforms were being introduced for the betterment of nursing sector.
The minister stated this while attending the first gynecological conference at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) as a special guest. The moot was organised to spread awareness about maternal and child health and a clear reduction in the mortality rate of newborns.
The minister visited various stalls and congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof Mehmood Ayaz and Prof Uzma Hussain for organising the moot.
Addressing the participants, the minister said the moot was being held on a very important topic. He said hundred percent merit is being ensured in the health department. He stressed the need of improving the system to ensure the health of mother and child.
The minister said the Punjab government was striving to provide better health facilities to people. He said corrupt elements would be removed them from the health department.
He said health card was being launched in a better format and special care was being accorded to all cardiology hospitals in Punjab.
The minister said reforms were being introduced for the betterment of nursing sector.
He said growing population is hindering the development of the country.
On the occasion, Prof Uzma Hussain informed the participants about the workshop.
VC Prof Mahmood Ayaz said that the complete health of a woman is the guarantee of a healthy society.
Prof Ayesha Siddiqa, Prof Muhammad Tayyab, Principal General Hospital Lahore Prof Sardar Al Farid Zafar, Prof Muhammad Arshad Chauhan, Prof Ayesha Malik, Prof Tabanda Rana, Sadia Ahsan, Prof Syeda Batul, Prof Shamsa Humayun, Prof Alia Waseem, Fariha Farooq, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Asghar Naqi, Prof Abrar Ashraf, Nabila Shami, Nadir Sohail, Prof Farhat Naz, Prof Fauzia Amber, Prof Samira Aslam and others also attended the moot.
Minister takes notice
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique took notice of the incident of short circuiting in the nursery of Sahiwal Medical College. He directed the Principal Sahiwal Medical College to submit a report of the incident in the next 24 hours.
