Four suspects arrested for molesting children

LAHORE : Police have busted a gang accused of molesting abandoned children in inns near Data Darbar.

The arrested individuals identified as Khalid, Bilal, Nawaz and Ramzan have confessed to their involvement in the heinous crimes.

According to DIG Organised Crime Unit, the gang targeted runaway children, offering them food and shelter to gain their trust. Once the children were in their custody, the accused transported them to various inns in the Data Darbar area, where they were subjected to molestation. The perpetrators charged their clients between Rs500 to Rs1,000 for access to these vulnerable children.

Criminal arrested after encounter

Islampura police arrested a criminal in an injured condition after an encounter on Saturday. According to details, Islampura police signaled the two motorcyclists to stop for checking but the bike riders started firing at the police, resulting in one of them being injured by the firing of his accomplice. Police arrested the injured bike rider identified as Usman Mansha and shifted him to the hospital. Police claimed that the arrested criminal was involved in robbery and theft cases.

Man commits suicide

A 40-year-old man committed suicide by shooting himself in Gulberg area on Saturday. The deceased identified as Ali Zia was mentally retarded. Police shifted the body to the morgue.

Road accidents

At least eight persons were killed and 1,369 others injured in 1,273 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

As many as 623 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 746 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams. The data analysis showed that 741 drivers, 69 underage drivers, 155 pedestrians, and 441 passengers were among the victims of road crashes. The statistics showed that 297 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 298 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Faisalabad with 85 accidents and 88 victims, and at third Gujranwala with 77 accidents and 77 victims.
