LAHORE: After the approval of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Livestock Card and Farmer Guidance Apps have been launched for the first time in the history of Pakistan.
The CM approved the Punjab Livestock Card project, which will grant Rs2.5 lakh interest-free loans for the animal feed. She chaired a meeting on Saturday on livestock in which important projects were granted approval. She directed simplifying the stages to give loans to livestock farmers along with formulating a scheme for dairy farming in south Punjab. “We want to put the livestock farmers of Punjab on the path to economic independence.”
The participants were apprised that prospects to provide loans on soft installments to males and females for dairy farming in the rural areas of south Punjab would be reviewed. Forty thousand farmers would be granted loans through the Punjab Livestock Card. Four lakh animals would be available for meat export through the card. The farmers would be provided facilities to undertake free tagging of animals, free insemination services along with Wanda and silage quality testing facilities. The farmers would be provided soft loans of Rs270,000 for Wanda, silage and mineral mixture facilities in Punjab. The farmers can pay their loans in 90 days. The livestock care will be facilitated through the Animal Identity Traceability System in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz paid homage to two constables who embraced martyrdom due to firing of dacoits in the Shedani area of Rahim Yar Khan. She expressed sympathies for the family members of martyred Constables Shafique Ahmad and Zeeshan Khurram.
