Garbage picker shot by security guard dies
A teenage garbage picker injured by the firing of a security guard in the North Karachi area a day earlier succumbed to the bullet wound on Saturday.
The 17-year-old victim, identified as Samad, was shot the security guard on Friday. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injury during the night between Friday and Saturday.
A case was registered at the Sir Syed police station on the complaint of Samad’s father, Muhammad Ayub, against the security guard, who fled after the shooting. The complainant told the police that when he returned after offering the Friday prayers, he found his son in a pool of blood, and Samad informed him that he had been shot by the security guard.
A minor altercation led to the security guard opening fire, resulting in a fatal injury to Samad, who later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Police said raids were underway to arrest the fleeing suspect, and an investigation was ongoing.
