LAHORE: Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday admitted for hearing a petition challenging NAB Amendment Ordinance.
The court issued notices to the federation and other respondents for September 17. The court summoned Attorney General of Pakistan for assistance.
In a two-page order, the court stated the Acting President’s authority to issue ordinances cannot be questioned. It is necessary to consider the contentions raised by the parties, it said. The court directed the respondents to file their written reply before the next hearing. The petitioner’s counsel pleaded there was no emergency for promulgation of the ordinance. The amendment was made to put pressure on the founder of PTI, the petitioner argued.
