CHITRAL: The residents of Mastuj tehsil in Upper Chitral have asked the government to build the 153-kg long Mastuj-Broghil Road, connecting 114 villages in the district.
The demand was made at a meeting of the local elders with Syed Mukhtar Ali Shah Advocate in the chair. Former nazim Mohammad Wazir Khan, Sher Nadir Khan, Mohammad Ali, Rahmat Wali Khan, Daulat Baig and others attended the meeting.
The participants in the meeting demanded the government to order the repair of the road as the local people faced difficulty transporting the patients, particularly the women and the elderly people to hospitals. They also demanded the local authorities to take up this matter with the chief guest on the occasion of the Shandur Polo Festival.
The meeting said that it was a longstanding issue of the local people but unfortunately no attention was being paid to it. They said that the Mastuj-Broghil Road connected Pakistan with China, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. They said that Mastuj and Broghil were strategically important places for defence and trade.
