Jashan-e-Kaag Festival begins in Haripur

HARIPUR: The Jashan-e-Kaag” Festival got underway at Kaag Jatti village of the Haripur district of the Hazara division.

Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jehan, inaugurated the event attended by hundreds of spectators.

Kaag Jatti is a place organizing the tent-pegging event under the aegis Regional Sports Officer of Hazara with horse riders from all across the country participating.

District Sports Officers Tauseef and Aqib and the staff engaged the players for this week-long activities.Syed Fakhar Jihan appreciated Haripur RSO and district sports officers of Abbottabad, Haripur for their work. He announced the construction of a ground for the festival.

Member Provincial Assembly Adil Khan, DG of Sports Abdul Nasir, Deputy Commissioner of Haripur Muhammad Khan, and Director Sports of Merged Areas Raziullah Khan Bhittani other officials and people attended the festival.

The traditional sports, including javelin, horse riding, stone picking, gymnastics, poetic gathering, wrestling and bull races are part of the overall festival.Cultural Festivity is the main means of keeping our traditions alive, said Advisor Fakhar Jahan. He announced the construction of a volleyball court in Haripur in the same village where the youngsters used to play.

These festivals, he said, were very important to keep our identity alive. “Each part of the province is a combination of a strong culture for its unique characteristics,” Syed Fakhar Jehan said, adding we will try to preserve our culture for future generations.The adviser announced Rs50,000 for the first position, Rs30,000 and Rs20,000 for the second and third, while in the double team event, Rs100,000 for the winning team, Rs60,000 for the runner-up and Rs30,000 for the team which remained third.
