Admin officers project being replicated in Hafizabad

The project of admin officers is being replicated in Hafizabad district after its success and positive response in Lahore.

This was said by CCPO Amin Wains during a ceremony with a delegate of admin officers who had come to understand the project at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Friday.

Wains said that police officers of assistant sub-inspector and sub-inspector ranks would be appointed as admin officers to deal with public at front desks in police stations of Hafizabad.  CIA SP Umer Virk would impart training to these admin officers.  

He said that he would give them a briefing on weekly basis too. The CCPO said that Lahore police started this project a year before and the motivation behind the initiation of project was to change 'thana culture.' He said that for this purpose they assigned admin officers to receive gently the citizens who come to visit police stations with their complaints. He said that they were assigned to solve the problem of a complainant as it was his own problem.  In short, he said, becoming a facilitator of poor common citizens was their duty. 

He said that citizens have appreciated the project of admin officers and there had been positive response to the project from all circles.

At the end of ceremony, the CCPO distributed prizes among Ravi Road Admin Officer for helping an old man finding his missing grandson and Defence-A Admin Officer who reunited a girl respectfully with her parents who had eloped with a man after friendship through Facebook. Later, the man abandoned her.

Body found: A 50-year-old unidentified man was found dead in the Data Darbar police area on Friday.

A passerby informed police about a man lying unconscious. Police remvoed him to hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police said he looked a drug-addict and might have died of a overdose of drugs. However, autopsy would help ascertain the cause of his death. Police are searching for his family. The body has been removed to morgue.

INjured: A 30-year-old man was injured in a road accident in the Kahna police area on Friday.

Edhi officials said that the victim, Tariq, was going in a van near Gajjumata, a truck hit him. As a result, the van overturned and the victim suffered injuries. He was shifted to hospital. 

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old woman suffered injuries in a road accident in the Hanjawal police area.

Edhi officials said that the victim, Shareefan, was going on a bike with her son. As she reached on Multan Road, vehicle hit them. The victim fell down and suffered injuries. She was removed to hospital.

 underage drivers: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Cheema has said all available resources were being utilised to take solid action against underage drivers and those vehicles using improper number plates.

He said during the recently action had been taken against 17939 underage drivers. City Traffic Police also took action against 4,234 vehicles using improper number plates.

Penalised: SP Headquarters Omar Saeed Malik awarded punishments of different kinds to 242 cops over corruption and misuse of power.

He announced punishments during Orderly Room while listening to the appeals of cops. He also terminated 62 cops from service over corruption and absence from duties. 

Patrolling: DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf has ordered officials of Cantt Division to enhance patrolling in crime prone areas through a comprehensive plan.

He said it chairing a crime review meeting of Cantt Division. He directed SHOs to take indiscriminate action against drugs peddlers, gamblers and land mafia. He also emphasized on the proper utilization of Dolphin Force and Police Response Unit to curb crimes and arrest criminals. 

He warned of strict action against negligent SHOs in case they failed to control crimes. The DIG also directed SHOs of Defence-A, B and C to arrest POs of their respective areas. He issued show-cause notice to SHO Factory Area Hammad Akhtar. He directed the cops to complete security arrangements for Chinese nationals working on different projects, educational institutions and sensitive installations.
