KARACHI: Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon has ordered issuance of new police service cards to 140,000 personnel of the provincial police force.

Memon issued the order while chairing a review meeting regarding issuance of new police service cards at the Central Police Office, Karachi, on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the DIGs of Headquarters, Establishment, IT and Finance and other senior officers.

The meeting was briefed about the tender and details under the rules and regulations for the new police service cards to be given to 140,000 police personnel.

In the briefing, the DIG Establishment said that a final decision has also been taken regarding the structure, design, colour and registration of necessary data in the card.

Memon directed that the cards should be the same for all officers and personnel in terms of structure, colour and design.

He also sought suggestions from the meeting regarding the use of technology in these cards and said necessary technical issues should also be made addressed.

The IGP said modern technology will not only easily identify police officers and jawans with the service cards, but the data of service cards can be digitized. He directed that issuance of new cards should be simplified under a one-window operation. The aim is to make the duties of police officers and jawans easier and more effective.

In addition, he said that as soon as the issuance of service cards starts, it should be continued uninterrupted until the process is completed. He said new police service cards should also have a separate mark for disabled police personnel on the pattern of Nadra.
