NOWSHERA: The family members, including women and children, blocked the Grand Trunk (GT) Road over alleged inaction by the local police against the accused nominated by them in Shaidu Town in Nowshera district on Wednesday.
The families of Safir Ali and Maulana Tariq, the residents of Shaidu Town, had a dispute over a route in their neighborhood.Safir Ali said that the dispute erupted when Maulana Tariq accused their family of shutting down a seminary.
He alleged that Maulana Tariq along with his sons named Yaseem, Majid and Samad and 20 other persons attacked his home and uprooted his kiosk shop and beat black and blue his brother Malik Zubair and uncle Muzzammil Khan.
Safir Ali said that they reported the incident to the police but they did not take any action against the accused. He said that his family was compelled to block the GT Road for vehicular traffic to press the police to take action against the accused.The protesters reopened the road after Deputy Superintendent of Police Fazal Subhan gave an assurance about meeting their demand.
