ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan Tuesday sounded optimistic about getting all the 78 reserved seats on June 25, after having watched the Supreme Court’s observations.

Talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Gohar said that they should get reserved seats and insisted their reserved seats could not be given to any other party, being their right in view of their general seats.

“The observations by the Supreme Court so far we have watched, we are quite hopeful of getting back our reserved seats. The direction in which the apex court is moving and the kind of observations being made, we are optimistic about our right,” he said.

He said the apex court was trying that a party which had won general seats, should not get more reserved seats than according to those seats. He added the Supreme Court wanted to interpret the Constitution in its spirit. Separately, PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan hailed the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decisions to exonerate PTI founding chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case and to reopen the party’s central secretariat as a resounding triumph of truth and justice. He expressed profound gratitude to the IHC on behalf of PTI for its courageous decisions rooted in justice and law. He emphasized that the establishment of a robust and independent justice system, the supremacy of Constitution, and the rule of law would deal a fatal blow to oppressors, tyrants and their sinister agenda, heralding a new era of peace, justice and prosperity for the country and its people. Raoof said that it’s a welcome respite to witness the judiciary standing firm in upholding the Constitution’s supremacy. He charged that some forces usurped the people’s basic rights, made the Constitution and law virtually ineffective and chained the judiciary to pave the way for fulfillment of their nefarious agenda.
