Probe into patient’s death in Pabbi hospital begins

NOSHERA: The three-member probe committee formed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on Tuesday visited Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Memorial Hospital in Pabbi and recorded statements of the hospital and Rescue 1122 staff members and police.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had formed a three-member investigation committee headed Additional Secretary Health Dr Niaz Muhammad, Deputy Secretary Tufail Khan and Director Health Service Reforms Unity Dr Khalil Akhtar to fix responsibility to award exemplary punishment to the negligent staff of the hospital.

A young patient had lost his life due to the alleged negligence of the staff of Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Memorial Hospital in Pabbi the other day. The Rescue 1122 ambulance had brought a patient to the health facility last night but instead of providing any medical treatment, the patient was later put into the hospital courtyard where he died.

The CM took notice of the tragic incident on the complaints of provincial Minister Mian Khaliqur Rahman, Member National Assembly Zulfiqar Khan and Member Provincial Assembly Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and ordered a thorough probe.

The committee recorded statements of the Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Ikhtiar Ali, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Salman, DMS Dr Idrees, Dr Javed, Dr Mansoor and the paramedic staff.

The committee also recorded statements of Rescue 1122 and police personnel, Shazad Ali, a citizen, who had informed Rescue 1122 about the patient.

The CCTV records were also obtained.On Monday, the probe body comprising Dr Muhammad Salim and Dr Hilal Sardar after recording statements had suspended technicians Salman and Sohail Khattak, ward orderly Ammar and Class-IV Abdullah.
