LAHORE: A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways (PR) has refuted recent reports, suggesting the privatization of the national rail network.
In an official statement, the spokesperson clarified that no correspondence has been made by the Ministry of Railways to CEO Railways regarding any privatization plans. He emphasized that Pakistan Railways is currently experiencing unprecedented financial success, with projected earnings set to exceed Rs85 billion this year—the highest in its history.
Furthermore, the spokesperson highlighted that while the government aims to encourage investment in the railways, certain projects will continue under public-private partnership arrangements to further bolster the sector’s growth and efficiency.
