LAHORE:A delegation of Chinese solar company Zonergy Corporation met Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain at Punjab Investment Board in which investment opportunities in the province and special incentives for foreign investors were discussed during the meeting.
The opportunities of investment in solar energy sector in the Punjab province were also discussed. The minister while talking to the Chinese delegation said that the government is serious about manufacturing solar panels in Punjab. Efforts are being made to set up a factory to manufacture solar panels in Punjab this year. He said that investors have special incentives of investment in industrial estates.
Income tax exemption for 10 years and one time duty free machinery import facility has been given. The provincial minister said that Garment City is being built on an area of 2000-acre near Lahore.
Foolproof security is being given to foreign investors in Punjab. Several Chinese companies have invested in various sectors of Punjab.
All possible facilities will be given Zonergy Company to increase investment in Punjab. Shao Wei, General Manager of Zonergy Corporation of China, said, “Our group has installed a 300 megawatt solar power plant in Bahawalpur. Our company has the expertise in the manufacturing of inverters and batteries. We are looking to increase investment in the solar energy sector of Punjab.” Officials of Punjab Investment Board were also present in the meeting.
Seminar on poultry diseases
A seminar on ‘Detection & Prediction of Emerging Diseases in Poultry’ was held at the University of Veterinary & Animal Science (UVAS) Lahore here on Monday.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus presided over the concluding session of the seminar while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Chairman Department of Pathology Prof Dr Asim Aslam and number of renowned stakeholders, experts, professionals from poultry industry & different institutions, faculty members and students attended the seminar.
During seminar, experts delivered lectures on different topics related to poultry diseases. Dr Qamar-un-Nisa talked about the importance of pathology in disease diagnosis. Prof Dr Amir Ghafoor Bajwa shed light on novel ways of controlling salmonella gallinarum in poultry. Dr Mustafa Kamal spoke about the growth of poultry in the middle of health challenges. Dr Asim Mahmood Khan described enhancing health with probiotics a strategy against antimicrobial resistance while Dr Hanif Nazir Chaudhry, Dr Kashif Saleemi and others also spoke.
