Sharp increase in vegetable prices

LAHORE:All the claims of the Punjab government of massive reduction in the vegetables prices to the six years’ low proved wrong as the rates of the almost all vegetables witnessed a sharp increase during the week.

Onion rates came down for a few days again crossed Rs100 per kilogram mark in the official rates while in the markets it was sold at Rs150 per kilogram. Furthermore, the rates of all seasonal vegetables have also registered an upwards trend in the markets. Similarly, chicken rates after a few days declining trend also witnessed a sharp increase of Rs39 per kilogram week on week basis. This week price of chicken increased by Rs26 per kg, fixed at Rs276-287 per kg, sold at Rs320-340 per kg, and chicken meat by Rs39 per kg, fixed Rs416 per kg, and sold at Rs440-900 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin unchanged at Rs70-75 per kg, sold at Rs120 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs60-65 per kg, and C-grade at Rs50-55 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs80-100 per kg. The price of tomato A-grade gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs42-45 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs35-38 per kg, and C-grade at Rs28-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs50-60 per kg.

The price of garlic local further gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs260-270 per kg, sold at Rs320-350 per kg, and Garlic China price was not fixed sold at Rs800-1000 per kg, Garlic Harnai gained by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs325-340 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg. The price of Ginger Thai further increased by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs570-590 per kg, and Ginger Chinese by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs575-595 per kg, both sold at Rs700-800 per kg.

Cucumber Farm increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs60-80 per kg, and cucumber local by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs67-70 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 kg. Brinjal price increased by Rs12 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg. Bitter gourd increased by Rs13 per kg, fixed at Rs60-63 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg. The price of Spinach farm increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs38-40, sold at Rs60-80 per kg. Zucchini local gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs110-115 per kg, sold at Rs140-160 per kg, Zucchini farm reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg, and Zucchini long by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg. The lemon local gained by Rs65 per kg, fixed at Rs540-560 per kg, sold at Rs800 per kg. Pumpkin price increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg. Green chili price A-grade increased by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs160 per kg, B-grade by Rs13 per kg, fixed at Rs55-58 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg.

Ladyfinger unchanged at Rs145-150 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg. Turnip was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs150-180 per kg. Mangoes unripe price increased by Rs13 per kg, fixed at Rs60-63 per kg, sold at Rs100 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples increased by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs58-315 per kg, sold at Rs200-500 per kg. The price of Banana A-category further gained by Rs10 per doze, fixed at Rs160-165 per dozen, sold at Rs250-300 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs110-115 per dozen, sold at Rs180-200 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs60-64 per dozen, sold at Rs130-150 per dozen. Pomegranate khandahri price increased by Rs110 per kg, fixed at Rs770-790 per kg, sold at Rs1,000-1,200 per kg. Watermelon price increased by Rs9 per kg, fixed at Rs33-35 per kg, sold at Rs50-70 per kg. Peach price gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs125-180 per kg, sold at Rs200-250 per kg.
