ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador in Pakistan Donald Blome is leaving for America where he will watch the T20 Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and India at a stadium in New York on June 9.
Donald Blome will also attend the opening ceremony of the T20 World Cup and also watch the opening match to be held on June 6, in which the hosts US and Canada will face each other. This is the first time in the history of cricket that the United States is hosting a big cricket competition. Before leaving, Donald Blome expressed good wishes to the national team of Pakistan in a video message and said that there is love and passion for cricket in Pakistan and cricket is played everywhere, even in summer.
The US ambassador said that the love for sports is shared between Pakistan and America. “The US is hosting the Cricket World Cup for the first time, while recently we hosted the Pakistan cricket team in Islamabad. I learned batting and bowling from the Pakistani cricketers and I hope we will see interesting matches in the World Cup,” he added. He also expressed good wishes to Babar Azam and the national team for the T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Donald Blome has said that the US government believes in strengthening relations with Pakistan. The US ambassador said that his country is concerned about the loss of life in attacks on the security forces in Pakistan. “The US will continue to cooperate with Pakistan on security issues,” he added.
He expressed the views at the end of the ceremony organized by the American Embassy in Islamabad. Earlier, speaking at the ceremony on the completion of 20 years of English Access Scholarship Program, US Ambassador Donald Blome said that this program reflects the long-term relationship and cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
