Federal bureaucracy has only two PhDs in BS-22, but 11 in BS-16

ISLAMABAD: There are only two PhD degree holders in BS-22 in the federal government’s entire civil service, whereas the Ph.Ds in BS-16 in federal bureaucracy are 11.
Out of total 4,36,243 federal government civil servants, the Ph.Ds are only 203. Fifteen government servants, holding Ph.D degrees, are serving in BS-1 to BS-16 posts, whereas Ph.Ds in BS-17 and above are 188.
In BS-22, there are only two Ph.D holders, while in BS-21 there are only six. As against this, there are 11 Ph.Ds in BS-16, two in BS 3-10 and two in BS 11-15.
Most of the Ph.D degree holder civil servants in the federal government are in BS-19 with number 80. There are 59 Ph.D degree holders in BS-18, 23 in BS-17 and 18 in BS-20.
According to 19th census of federal government civil servants, officials holding M.Phil degree are more in BS-1 to BS-16 than BS-17 and above. There are a total of 3,491 officials having M.Phil degree. A total of 1,788 M.Phil degree holders are serving in BS-16 and below, whereas BS-17 and above officials are 1,703.
The number of civil servants with M.Phil degrees serving in BS-16 is 1,377, which is highest. There is only one BS-22 civil servant having M.Phil degree. Such officials in BS-21 are only 18.
Official data shows 411 M.Phil degree holders are serving in BS 11-15 posts, 955 in BS-17, 452 in BS-18, 221 in BS-19 and 56 in BS-20.
Out of total 50,140 Master degree holders, BS 3-10 civil servants are on top with 17,339 number followed by 10,257 in BS 11-15, 8,345 in BS-16, 7,796 in BS-17, 3,319 in BS-18, 1,855 in BS-19, 775 in BS-20, 331 in BS-21 and 81 in BS-22.
Total number of Bachelor’s degree holder in the federal civil service is 60,487. These include 52,848 in BS-16 and below, whereas the number of such officers in BS-17 and above is 7,639. The highest number in this category is 30,984 of BS 3-10 civil servants.
Surprisingly, there are 481 officers in BS-17 and above who hold qualification only up to matriculation, whereas 693 officers in BS-17 and above have intermediate (FA/FSc) level education. There are three officers in BS-19, 260 in BS-18 and 430 in BS-17 who have education up to level of intermediate. The matriculate federal government civil servants in BS-17 are 486, and in BS-18 their number is 13.
