PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday directed the provincial government to remove the name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Shahid Khattak from the Provisional National Identification List.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Wiqar Ahmad heard the petition. Alam Khan Adenzai appeared for the petitioner. Federal Investigation Agency Additional Director (Legal) Abdul Rahman also appeared in the court.
Alam Khan Adenzai told the bench that his client was a member of the National Assembly and his name had been added to the Provisional National Identification List, therefore, he could not travel abroad.
Federal Investigation Agency Additional Director (Legal) Abdul Rahman told the bench that the name of the MNA was added to the Provisional National Identification List on the report of the Karak Police. Justice Arshad Ali remarked that the lawmaker belonged to the political party, which was ruling the province so it could remove his name from the list. However, his lawyer said that the previous caretaker government had done this.
The court ordered the provincial government to remove the name of the lawmaker from the no-fly list and submit a report to the court.
