Iran envoy, IGP discuss security of Iranian nationals in Punjab

LAHORE: Iranian Lahore Consul-General Mehran Movahedfar Friday visited Central Police Office and held a meeting with Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar.

Police Liaison Officer from Iranian Embassy Col Umeed Sarwari and Commercial Attache Ali Asghar Moghari also featured the delegation. During the meeting, important issues of mutual interest, including the security of Iranian nationals in Punjab were discussed.

The IGP expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisani and other officials in the helicopter crash. The IGP stressed the need of taking benefit from each other's experiences regarding law enforcement. The IGP and other senior police officers briefed the Iranian Consul-General on the technology-based reforms in the Punjab Police. The Iranian Consul General said Iranian Police will exchange delegations with Punjab Police for training and capacity building.

The IGP told the Iranian team about recently launched community policing programmes, including Human Resource, Police Station Record Management System on Central Police Dash board. At the end of the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged between the IGP and the Iranian Consul General. Addl IG Punjab, DIG Headquarters, CTO Lahore also attended the meeting.

Crackdown on power thieves intensified

Punjab Police Friday intensified crackdown on electricity thieves. The police have booked 41,024 accused and arrested 19,709 power thieves across the province this year so far. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, some 23,673 cases of electricity theft were challaned and 2,540 culprits were punished and fined.

Retired cops honoured

A ceremony was held at the Capital City Police Office in the honour of retired officers of the Lahore Police. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana lauded the services of the officers and expressed his best wishes for them to lead peaceful life. He presented commemorative shields and bouquets to former cops.

PHP official promoted

IGP Dr Usman Anwar Friday chaired the departmental promotion board meeting at Central Police Office and approved the promotion of PHP AD Ghulam Mohiyuddin to the post of Deputy Director. The board discussed cases of three assistant directors and approved the promotion of Ghulam Mohiyuddin. The Addl IG Punjab, AIG Special Branch, DIG Headquarters, DIG Establishment II, Deputy Secy Regulation Wing and Deputy Secy S & GAD also attended the meeting.
