LAHORE:The anti-smuggling staff of Collectorate of Customs, Enforcement, Lahore conducted a raid on the premises of MMA Foods in Jamber, district Kasur and recovered 7,000 kilograms of smuggled foreign-origin betel nuts during the thorough search of the premises.
The confiscated betel nuts, valued at approximately Rs21 million, have been transported to the Customs State Warehouse for safekeeping.
The campaign against the smuggling of foreign-origin betel nuts has been intensified on the direction of Chief Collector of Customs (Enforcement-Punjab) Ms Rabab Sikandar and Collector, Collectorate of Customs, Enforcement, Lahore Mateen Alam. Additionally, the anti-smuggling staff found a small plant for crushing betel nuts installed in a separate room, while the main production unit was engaged in manufacturing biscuits and confectionery. The specific room where the plant was located has been properly sealed to prevent further illegal activity.
