Private hospitals alerted to treat measles, heat stroke patients

LAHORE:The Punjab Healthcare Commission has directed all private hospitals of the province to make arrangements for treating measles and heat stroke patients.

According to a directive issued here on Friday, these hospitals have been instructed to complete the necessary arrangements on a priority basis for the treatment of heat stroke patients in emergency departments.

Moreover, orders have been given to these hospitals to be ready to treat measles patients. The letter also said that all hospitals should nominate focal persons for timely reporting of patients on the measles dashboard, and their details should be sent to the Commission at the earliest possible. The PHC has also directed to ensure the implementation of these guidelines. In addition, the Commission has given directions to prepare for probable Congo virus patients.

Prevention of measles, heatwave, Congo

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique presided over a meeting of health authorities and experts to review heatwave, measles, Congo, Universal Health Insurance and revamping projects in the province.

The meeting held at Department of Specialised Health Care and Medical Education was attended by Secretary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan, Special Secretaries Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Raja Mansoor Ahmed, Additional Secretaries Zahida Azhar, Hafiz Dr Shahid Latif, Mazhar Hussain and Usman Khalid, DG Drugs Dr Sohail, Dr Asim Altaf, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr Ali Razzaq, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti and Deputy Secretaries, while KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz, University of Child Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Prof Masood Sadiq, FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, MS, principals of all nursing colleges, chief pharmacists of all hospitals and all chief nursing superintendents participated through a video link.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan made a detailed review for prevention of measles, heatwave, Congo, revamping Universal Health Insurance (UHI) and other indicators throughout the province.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said that performance is being evaluated by visiting all government teaching hospitals. We will do clinical audit of government hospitals. The elements guilty of corruption do not deserve any discount.

He said that the health department stands with the health professionals. For us, the patients who come to government hospitals and their better treatment are the most important. The health department has nothing to do with the elements that hinder the working of hospitals.
