Three suspects were arrested on Friday in connection with Thursday’s car shooting in the Gurumandir area as police stated that the firing was the outcome of a family feud as one of the brothers who were targeted in the attack had filed a case against his close relatives.

Five brothers were going to attend a court hearing in a car on Thursday morning when the car was targeted by six armed men on three motorcyclists in the Gurumandir area. As a result of the firing, two of the brothers died on the spot and another two wounded. One of them remained unhurt.

Initial investigations into the incident revealed that the men were shot over an old enmity. A case has been registered at the Jamshed Quarters police station on the complaint of one of the brothers, Shahzaib, who nominated his close relatives, including a man, Zar Gul, his sons and others.

Police have included the charges of murder, attempted murder and damage to property in the case. A total of five suspects have been named in the case along with another five unidentified suspects.

The complainant stated that his family had an old dispute with his father's uncle Zar Gul. In 2023, Gul's son was murdered, after which the brothers were nominated in the case. They had obtained bail from the court and were on their way to attend a hearing on Thursday morning when they were targeted.

The complainant stated that the assailants continued to fire at the car until it stopped and he heard them shouting to their accomplices to ensure that no one survived. According to police, the assailants were on three motorcycles and they opened fire on the car near Fatima Bai Hospital on Business Recorder Road. The attackers included Mian Zar, his son, and others. The car crashed into a pole on Jahangir Road after veering off from Gurumandir.
