FTO assures businessmen of full facilitation
PESHAWAR: Federal Tax Ombudsman, Dr Asif Mehmood Jah, has said the institution is businessmen and taxpayers-friendly and is providing relief to them by redressing their complaints in a limited time.
“The FTO is taking effective measures to prevent harassment of the business community over plea of enforcement of rules and issuance of tax refunds,” he added.Dr Asif Mehmood Jah expressed these views while talking to the KP business community during a visit to the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
SCCI President Faud Ishaq, SVP, Sanaullah Khan, VP Ejaz Afridi, Media & Custom Coordinator for FTO, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Advisor FTO KP, Sardar Ali Khawaja, and others were present on the occasion.
The FTO said the business community was playing an important role in stabilizing the economy of the country and their facilitation would be ensured.Dr Asif Jah said the FTO provided relief to the trading community last year by clearing refund cases of Rs17.8 million through the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
“The FTO has set up facilitation centers in different cities of the country to help the business community and ensure timely redressal of their complaints,” he added.
SCCI President Faud Ishaq called for expanding the tax net instead of exerting more pressure on taxpayers. He also expressed concern over the enforcement of a 25 to 26 percent tax on the transfer of properties.
Media and Customs Coordinator for FTO, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, appreciated the efforts being made by the FTO to facilitate the trading community.He said the team of FTO under the leadership of Dr Asif Mehmood Jan was resolving problems faced by the business community.
