Islamabad: The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashood Khan, has announced significant support for the street children’s football team preparing for the Norway Cup. This includes facilitating logistics for one month of training and providing first-class trainers to ensure the team’s readiness for the international competition.
He was addressing the National Street Children Conference titled ‘I Am Somebody’ under the auspices of Muslim Hands held in the federal capital. The conference focused on fostering dialogue, action plans, and partnerships to improve the lives of street-connected children in Pakistan.
A documentary titled ‘I Am Somebody’ trailer was screened, showcasing the challenges and triumphs of street children featuring two Pakistani street footballer across the globe, made by Oscar Award winning Sharmeen Obaid Chinnoy Films. Speakers emphasised the role of sports in transforming the lives of street children and discussed various initiatives and shared success stories, illustrating how sports can be a powerful tool for empowerment and education. The second plenary session focused on the importance of partnerships and advocacy in promoting child rights.
