TUNIS: Four people are missing off eastern Tunisia´s coastal city of Mahdia and 17 have been rescued while attempting to reach Europe by boat, the National Guard said on Wednesday.
It said a group including “seven foreigners”, referring to sub-Saharan African migrants, sailed on Monday from Chebba near Mahdia, but their makeshift boat capsized shortly afterwards. Four Tunisian migrants are still missing, National Guard spokesman Houcem Jebabli told AFP.
On Monday, 153 Tunisian migrants, among them three women and a newborn baby, were rescued off the capital Tunis, Jebabli said.
