Consumers stage protest at SNGPL office
PESHAWAR: Residents of different localities in the provincial capital staged protests against the non-availability of gas supply.
The residents of various localities gathered outside the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited office and chanted slogans against the SNGPL management for its inability to ensure gas supply to consumers. They said they were suffering due to the gas loadshedding.
The protesters said that some areas were facing gas suspension for continuous 24 hours for the last several months. They said that the SNGPL officials used to justify gas outages in winter but now what was their excuse for loadshedding in summer?
The protesters said the Sui gas crisis had disturbed the routine life. “Women are unable to prepare meals in time at home due to either non-supply of Sui gas or its low pressure. We are forced to send children to schools without breakfast,” said one of the protesters. They lamented that there was no end in sight to the Sui gas crisis even in summer.
“This has left the people with no other option but to turn to LPG to meet their needs. The eateries are using fuel wood as well to keep the business running but this is not the solution as all these alternative sources are increasing the financial burden of the people,” said another protester.
