Council meeting of SACP held
Islamabad:The Society of Asian Civilization Pakistan (SACP) held its general council meeting and oath-taking ceremony for the tenure of 2024-26 here at Islamabad Club.
SACP, the brain child of Dr. Ahmad Hassan Dani, Society of Asian Civilization Pakistan (SACP), is climbing the steps of progress and achievement through a huge diaspora of members, belonging to the fields of education, literature, art, architecture, research, bureaucracy and social scientists.
The report of past tenure activities and accounts was presented by outgoing Council members. Elections for next tenure were held on 17, 18 and 19th May in which votes were cast electronically and through physical ballot. Following members were elected and they took Oath for the forthcoming term on 2024-26, on 28 May. Dr. Sameena Nadeem – President, Prof. Rana Taqi - Senior Vice President Shazia Qureshi Vice President Zainab Jafari- Secretary General, Umme Kulsoom- D. Sec. General, Secretary Finance- Ashfaq Hussain Bhatti, Secretary Media- Sarwar Munir Rao, Secretary Coordination – Ambassador (r) Haffez Ur Rahman, Secretary Marketing- Shahid Mustafa Haq, Secretary Publications - Dr. Ghani Ur Rahman, Member EC 1 - M. Saeed Anjum Khokar, Member EC 2 - Prof. Ghazala Khalid, Member EC 3 - Zahida Powar, Member EC 4 - Faiza Qamar, Member EC 5- Khadija Nasreen.
Shields were also distributed by Founder member, Dr. Z. A. Qureshi, to past EC members as acknowledgement of their services to M/s, Dr. Maqsooda Hussain as Ex. President, Rana Taqi as Ex. SVP, Nadeem Akbar as Ex. VP, Shazia Qureshi as Ex. SG for keeping the society active and viable, even during COVID years and non-registration of the entity as per government decision actually impeding the entity for our practical purposes due to non-availability of funds. The above mentioned team along with some senior members kept this society in order and viable.
The ceremony concluded by rendering thanks to the chair as well as active help of all old members of the society mainly Mr Hafiz ur Rehman, Baktiar Haqim rtd. Yousaf Aziz, Ambassador Saeed Khalid, who amicably held general elections for the current term. The Lahore chapter announced holding of Silver Jublee of the society on March 25th, 2025.
