Dera blaze: Wife, 2 more children of army officer succumb to injuries

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Wife and two more children of Lt-Col Dr Mohammad Saqib succumbed to their injuries at the Combined Military Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday.

Lt-Col Dr Mohammad Saqib and his 12-year-old daughter, Quirat, and 17-year-old son, Moazenur Rehman had died in a fire that erupted in his residence situated at Phallajat Mohalla in the jurisdiction of City Police Station.

His wife and two more children, identified as 14-year-old son, Mohammad Ashhad, daughter Manhal, had sustained severe burn injuries and were under treatment at the CMH.However, they also succumbed to their injuries.

On Monday, the army officer and his two children had died of burn injuries and his three family members had received serious wounds when fire broke out in their house.The fire erupted at the residence of Lt-Col Dr Mohammad Saqib at Inner Imamia Gate of Dera city early in the morning when the inmates were asleep. The blaze had engulfed the entire house within no time.The bodies were later laid to rest at their ancestral graveyard in Dera city.The funeral prayers were offered at Eidgah attended by a large number of people.Dr Saqib was performing duty in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and had reached his residence to spend weekly off with his family.
