Heatwave likely to subside temporarily in upper parts of country from today

Islamabad:Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted dust storm, thunderstorm and isolated rain in upper parts of the country from Tuesday (today) to Saturday in result of which the prevailing severe heatwave conditions are likely to subside.

The Met Office has informed on Monday that a shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country on Tuesday in the evening or night. Under the influence of this weather system, dust storm or thunderstorm is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Sherani and Barkhan in Balochistan from Monday night to Wednesday while in Khyber Pakhtun­khwa, dust storm/thund­erstorm with isolated rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Manse­hra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan and Kurram from Tuesday in the evening or night to Saturday with occasional gaps.

According to Met Office, rain with wind and thunderstorm is expected in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan and in Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poo­nch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur from Tuesday (today) to Saturday.

Dust storm or thunderstorm with isolated rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali from Tuesday evening or night to Saturday with occasional gaps. In Sindh, Dust storm or gusty winds is expected in Karachi, Thatta, Badin and Hyderabad on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to Met Office, the prevailing heatwave conditions are likely to subside in upper parts of the country from (Tuesday) today.
