LAHORE: National Inter-departmental Beach Handball Championship will be held from June 3-5 at the Sand Court University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
Army, WAPDA, Police and Railways will showcase their skills in the event. The matches will be played on league basis. The last game will be played at 6pm on June 5. During the event the national beach handball team will be finalised for 2025 South Asian Games and International Beach Handball Championship which is expected to be held in November and December.
Pakistan has a rich history in beach handball as the nation won gold in the 1st Asian Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia, in 2008, silver medal in 2nd Asian Beach Games in Muscat, Oman, in 2010, bronze medal in 3rd Asian Beach Games in Hayiung, China, in 2012, 4th Asian Beach Games in Pokhet, Thailand, in 2014, and 5th Asian Beach Games in Danang, Vietnam, in 2016. Pakistan team also got 6th place in World Games in Kohsiung, Chinese Tai Pei, in 2009 in which Tahir Ali from Pakistan was declared the best goalkeeper.
