The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has cut average gas prices for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) by 10 per cent and four per cent respectively, but people are unlikely to see any savings due to the massive circular debt accumulated in years past. This is partly why the gas tariff has increased by around 67 per cent at the urging of the IMF.
This will hurt people who do not have a lot of money and increase inequality. The government is trying to fix the economy, but it might make things harder for regular people if it keeps boosting tariffs and taxes.
