KARACHI: Pakistan beat Singapore and Sri Lanka to top their pool in the men’s event of the 18th Asian Squash Team Championships on Wednesday in Chinese Taipei.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 and beat Singapore 3-0 later in the day.
Pakistan are seeded second and placed in group B along with seventh seed Singapore and 10th seed Sri Lanka.
Against Sri Lanka, Farhan Zaman beat Mohammed Shamil Mukthar Wakeel 11-2, 11-4, 11-2; Tayyab Aslam defeated Ravindu Hashintha Laksiri Holipitige 11-5, 11-9, 12-10; and Farhan Mehboob won against Gihan Danushka Suwaris Thanthrige 11-5, 12-10, 13-11. In the second match against Singapore, Farhan Zaman beat Samuel Kang 11-6, 12-10, 14-12; Farhan Mehboob won against Bryan Koh 11-6, 11-2, 8-11, 11-5; and Israr Ahmed defeated Pang Ka Hoe 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-4. Pakistan — with six match points — will now play against the second winners of Pool A on May 13.
