Jammers approved for Senate chairman’s Punjab visits

LAHORE: The Provincial Intelligence Committee of Punjab has given approval to provide jammers to Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani during his visit to the province over security concerns.
The decision was taken in an extraordinary meeting of the Provincial Intelligence Committee, presided over by Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal. Sources said that the committee also approved the creation of a special branch for vehicles with jammers and two pools in S&GAD for bulletproof vehicles. Sources said that despite the lack of vehicles with jammers in Punjab, a vehicle with jammers will be provided to the Senate chairman. The committee also decided to purchase new bullet-proof and jammers vehicles, after which the Punjab Home Department will purchase 5 new jammer vehicles and nine bullet-proof vehicles. The preparation for sending a summary to the Chief Minister has started.
The Provincial Intelligence Committee also decided to conduct a security audit of all stations of the Orange Line Metro Train. The recommendation for security audit was made by the District Intelligence Committee Lahore which was approved by the Provincial Intelligence Committee.
Sources said that in the meeting, the issue of providing a bulletproof vehicle to Justice Alia Neelam of the Lahore High Court was also taken into consideration. The committee recommended that the matter should be referred to S&GAD to make arrangements. The committee ordered sending security reports to the RPOs of Multan and Faisalabad on the requests of Bishop of Multan Asher Kamran and Member of Provincial Assembly Muhammad Saqib Khan Chadhar from PP 97 Chiniot district to provide police security.
In the meeting, on the request to provide security again to Central President Ulema Mashaikh Wing (Apna Pakistan) district Faisalabad, Hafiz Maqbool Ahmed, the Home Secretary ordered that the same security facilities that were provided to him earlier should be provided to him.
