MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Department initiated wheat procurement from farmers here on Monday.
“We have launched purchasing wheat from local farmers first, with the initial 10 days dedicated to them,” said Adnan Khan Bhittani, the deputy commissioner, at the launching ceremony.The provincial government has set the wheat price at Rs 3900 per 40 kilograms for peasants transporting their yield from Punjab to Mansehra.
“We have started purchasing wheat from farmers in light of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s directives,” added the official.He said to ensure a transparent process a 10-member committee was constituted to assess the wheat’s quality. Upon clearance, the food department will purchase the wheat at a fixed price.
