LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club is set to host its 38th day winter meeting of the 2023-24 season on Sunday, featuring the highly anticipated Fan Tan Cup along with five notable Mangla Dam Plates.
The races will be run over a distance of 900 metres each, scheduled to take place in the evening to accommodate the rising temperatures.
The opening race of the day, the Mangla Dam Plate (Class-VII, Division-VI&VII), features ten participants. Tatla Choice is the favorite to win, with Sky Warrior expected to secure the place position and Tango To Fire poised as a potential surprise. The full lineup includes: Flokey, Al Karam, Safi Choice, Flash Fire, Miss Shelby, Mustang, and Capital City.
In the second (Class-VII, Division-VI&VII) race, Absolutely Not is tipped as the favorite, with Sultan Jahaniya likely to take place and Super Power as the fluke.
The race will also feature Abdullah Champion, Macs, Master Prince, Moon Light, Abdullah Love, Imran Choice, Galileo Lady.
The third (Class-VII, Division I&II) race presents a seven-horse lineup with Phantom leading as the frontrunner.
Shakira is expected to follow closely, and Sargent might surprise. The participants also are Maxi Macs, Sehar, Bio Care, Farhan Prince,
The highlight of the meeting, is the (Class-VI) Fan Tan Cup, features a competitive field.
Olympus is favoured to deliver a standout performance, with Manat expected to place and Brooklyn as a potential upset. The full list of challengers includes J-K and Royal Salute.
In the fifth (Class VII, Division-III) race, Wynx is the favorite, with Timeline likely to place and Kuwait Edition considered a fluke.
Other contenders are Jack, Song Bird, Yesteryear, Bella, and Casper.
The final (Class VII, Division-IV&V) race of the day features eight participants, with Moni Prince seen as the top contender. Black Master is expected to challenge, while Luckvir may provide a surprise.
The race will also include Generosity, Wonder Boy, Yes Commander, Lalay De Jan, and Gifts of Gold.
