Ban on live broadcast of court proceedings of Imran case unjustified: PTI
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Friday alleged the ban on live broadcast of court proceedings of the party founder’s case is unjustified, discriminatory.
“The issue of NAB amendments is not a matter concerning Imran Khan’s person, but about protecting the resources of 240 million Pakistanis, strengthening the state’s anti-corruption system and protecting the overall national interest,” he said in a statement, issued here by the PTI Central Media Department. He claimed that after Panama and Pandora Leaks, the latest Dubai Leaks had also proved that Imran Khan was the only national leader in the country whose financial record was the most transparent and his wealth and property were all in Pakistan. An unscrupulous chairman at the helm of the NAB law, he alleged, played role of the main facilitator against him (Imran) in the May 9 false flag operation. “It was Imran Khan's fundamental legal right to present his point of view before the court as a petitioner on this matter of national importance,” he contended.
“Despite appearing via video link from jail during the hearing, the PTI founder was deprived of giving his stance on NAB amendments. Article 10-A of the Constitution mandates a fair trial while 19-A binds the state to ensure citizens have access to verified information,” he argued. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee also expressed grave concern over the ‘extraordinary acceleration’ in the hearing of false, fabricated and baseless’ Al-Qadir Trust case against the PTI founder chairman Imran Khan.
It denounced the ongoing attempts to deprive Imran Khan and his spouse of justice through unfair trials of their cases. The core committee alleged that the PTI founder chairman and Bushra Bibi were being subjected to the worst vindictive politics by unjustly delaying the false, baseless, absurd and fabricated Iddat case under one or another pretext.
The Core Committee discussed the by-election in NA-148, Multan scheduled for May 19 and expressed hope that the PTI candidate’s victory in the by-election was certain with a margin of 40,000 to 50,000 votes.
