LG members from minorities go on hunger strike
PESHAWAR: Local government members from the minorities have started a hunger strike against the non-availability of funds.The protesters, led by Sardar Parwindar Singh, established a hunger strike camp near the Peshawar Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Parwindar Singh said that the minority members of the Capital Metropolitan Government were left with no other option but to resort to the hunger strike outside the press club.
The minority members of the metropolitan government should be given their rights, he said, adding that funds and honorarium, being the right of the minority members, should be approved.The protesters said that the government and Capital Metropolitan Government officials hurdled the release of funds. The protest would continue till their demands were accepted, he added.
