Gusty winds blow away heatwave

LAHORE: Dry, hot and partly cloudy weather is expected in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday (today). A westerly wave is affecting upper and western parts of the country and likely to grip upper and central parts during next couple of days. Low pressure area lies over northeast Balochistan and its adjoining area with its trough extending southeastwards. Weather remained very hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred at one or two places in Malakand, Rawalpindi divisions and Kashmir. Gusty winds, clocking around 44km/hour, swirled through the city later on Tuesday, providing some respite to the Lahorites after a hot day measuring 40 degrees celsius. The maximum in the country was 47°c at Kot Addu. Parts of the country where it rained were Dir, Murree, Garhi Dupatta, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Balakot. —Correspondent
