Personnel of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Karachi on Thursday busted an inter-provincial drug trafficking gang in two raids, arresting seven of its members.

Officials reported that in the first operation, the SIU apprehended a family of five inter-provincial drug smugglers and peddlers from Magsi Goth, recovering narcotics from their possession. The arrested individuals were identified as Khuda Bakhsh, his son Abdul Ghafoor, Asma, daughter of Abdul Ghafoor, and Gul Banu, and Noor Saba. The SIU seized 5.5 kilograms of hashish from the suspects.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had been transporting hashish from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and selling it to drug dealers at various locations in Karachi. Bakhsh and Ghafoor were responsible for bringing the narcotics to Karachi, which were then distributed through the women in their family.

In the second operation, the SIU arrested two drug peddlers from Gadha Mor, Main Corridor, Brigade, recovering hashish from their possession. The arrested individuals were identified as Waqas Anwar and Gul Hamid, with a recovery of 2.41 kilograms of hashish.

During the initial investigation, the suspects disclosed that they had been selling drugs for the last five to six years. They claimed to purchase drugs from individuals named Osama and Sadiq, which they then sold at various locations in Karachi. Notably, Gul Hamid had previously been arrested in seven drug-related cases.
