Three captors arrested

Rawalpindi:RA Bazaar Police have arrested three gangsters involved in kidnapping a businessman for ransom and recovered heavy amount of ransom with arms and ammunition after a police encounter when they captors came to scene to collect extortion, a police spokesman said.

The suspects were arrested in critically wounded condition after shootout between the police party and the captors. The police, quoting the statement of the complainant, who is owner of a private hospital in Rawalpindi, said that the captors kidnapped her husband on 9th May and demanded Rs15 million as ransom for his safe releasing.

The police said, the captors when released the abducted man after receiving the ransom and left the scene, the police party got them near Dhoke Syedan, but the gangsters opened firing at the police during the escape, consequently, tree captors sustained bullet injuries and shifted them after arresting, while, the remaining accomplices managed to escape from the scene. The captors were identified as Saeed, Shehzad, and Sarfaraz, from whom over 10 million rupees in ransom money and a vehicle were recovered.

Sources indicated that the captors were government servants and had been dismissed from a government institution due to misconduct. On May 9, RA Bazaar Police Station registered a kidnapping case under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal on a complaint, Muhammad Ali Qasim, a son of the kidnapped person.

The complainant stated that on 8th May, 55-year-old Muhammad Ishaq was forcibly abducted by two individuals in a black GLI car when he was leaving the mosque after Maghrib prayers on Harley Street No. 7. It is noteworthy that CPO Rawalpindi had taken notice of the kidnapping for ransom and had constituted a team for the arrest of the captors and the safe recovery of the abductee. The team was comprised of SSP Operations Hafiz Kamran Asghar, SSP Investigation Zunaira Azfar, SP Organised Crime, SHO Zahid Zahoor of Westridge Police Station, and SHO Muhammad Tariq of RA Bazaar Police Station. The team successfully apprehended the kidnappers after a weeklong strategic efforts.
