LAHORE:Pakistan Railways, in a bid to upgrade the travelling facilities on one of its most popular routes, has introduced a premium lounge dining car on the Tezgam Express.
Starting May 20, passengers will be able to enjoy a variety of dining options in the newly added dining facilities. The premium lounge dining car, designed to accommodate 35 diners at a time, features an extensive menu with over 40 dishes. Passengers can indulge in a range of culinary delights, including soups, burgers, pizzas, and traditional karahi dishes, all while enjoying the scenic views along their journey.
This initiative follows the successful implementation of a similar dining car on the Bahauddin Zakaria Express. Encouraged by positive feedback, Pakistan Railways plans to extend this service to other trains, including the Khyber Mail and Allama Iqbal Express. In addition to these upgrades, Pakistan Railways has reported a significant financial milestone.
CEO Aamir Baloch announced that the railway’s income has exceeded Rs70 billion, surpassing the target by Rs7 billion. This reflects strong performance and growing passenger patronage. As part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger amenities, Pakistan Railways will also be constructing executive washrooms at key railway stations, including Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore. These new facilities, set to be operational from June 1, aim to provide passengers with increased comfort and convenience during their rail journeys.
