Jinnah Hospital capacity to be increased: minister

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired a meeting at Allama Iqbal Medical College here on Wednesday to review the measures taken to increase the efficiency of various departments of Jinnah Hospital (JHL).

Principal Prof Dr Syed Asghar Naqi, MS Jinnah Hospital Dr Yahya Sultan, Prof Sajjad Gurayah, Burn Unit's Dr Yawar, Dr Shabbir Chaudhry, other faculty members and YDA members were present in the meeting.

Khawaja Salman said on this occasion that there is a dire need to increase the capacity of various departments of Jinnah Hospital where thousands of patients come for treatment every day. We will take all possible measures to increase the capacity of hospital besides taking steps to improve liver and stomach departments in Jinnah hospital, he added.

Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Dr Syed Asghar Naqi and MS Dr Yahya Sultan have been instructed to identify further issues for improvement in Jinnah Hospital. Meanwhile, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique attended the 36th Annual Sports Day of Allama Iqbal Medical College.

On this occasion, Principal Prof Dr Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof Mahmood Shaukat, Prof Majeed Chaudhry, Prof Ayesha Arif, Prof Khalid Mahmood, faculty members and a large number of male and female students participated.

The male and female students participated in chati race, tug-of-war and other competitions. Medals and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the students who secured top positions.

The provincial minister in his address said that extracurricular activities are very important for male and female students along with education. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz appreciated for the successful renal transplant of 11-year-old Mansoor in Jinnah Hospital.
